Smiley Consumer Protection BC Approves CanNachi to Credential BC Home Inspectors
{February 5, 2010} - VICTORIA, BC – Consumer Protection BC has approved the Alliston Ontario based Canadian National Association of Certified Home Inspectors Inc. (CanNACHI) as an association appropriate to assess the qualifications of home inspectors applying for licenses under the BC Home Inspector Licensing Regulation.

Consumer Protection BC will recognize the CanNACHI designations of Associate and Certified Master Home Inspector.

CanNACHI joins the Canadian Association of Home & Property Inspectors (CAHPI BC), the National Certification Program for Canadian Home and Property Inspectors, and the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) as organizations who are acceptable to issue credentials which serve as the basis for licensing under the BC Home Inspector Licensing Regulation.

The existing three organizations were approved by the BC Government as part of the introduction of the Home Inspector Licensing Regulation on March 31, 2009. CanNACHI is the first group to be approved by Consumer Protection BC having met all the necessary criteria for an organization to train, qualify, oversee, manage and discipline its members in home inspection practice.

A complete list of the criteria Consumer Protection BC uses to evaluate an association or authority can be found on our web site under the Home Inspector licensing section.

New entrants into the home inspector trade may now obtain a credential from CanNACHI and submit that as part of their BC home inspector licensing application. Existing licensees who obtain the credential from CanNACHI may also use that as the basis for continued licensing and renewal of their BC home inspector licence.

My message earlier congratulating Allen and others for a huge accomplishment was met with the usual derogatory comment by George Luck.  Allen and his group have made lemonde out of the lemons that Nick Gromicko threw at the BC NACHI people and I think they deserve plaudits for that.   It's very unfortunate that you folks can't even accept good wishes and congratulations graciously.

Someone always has to find a negative viewpoint.
Very tiresome.

CONGRATULATIONS CANACHI.

With CanNachi being accredited that certainly taints the gene pool of CAHPI/NCA/BCIPI, and as BC goes, so goes Alberta, and possibly any other province on the path to licencing. Well... not every province and certainly not Ontario by April 30th, 2010, let alone the foreseeable future.

Cheers.

I Find this so sad that the champion of giving out can not take it ,so sad  .
Bill you must have a very poor memory You of all people should not be complaining .
You have heaped it on me and others for years .
How about when you where voted an award BY Cahpi I sent my heart felt gratifications for you and I was very pleased for you.
But when I was voted NACHI member of the year you insulted every NACHI member for allowing me to be voted member of the year .
You where the only sour person who posted about my winning.
It is a shame how you just can not get along with many great people who frequent these boards .
I like you Bill and am sorry, you can give it out but seem to lack the ability to have it come back.
I have never seen you make one apologies on these Forums .
Have a good day Bill and do hope we can some day get along .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpurgis_Night

Its also a pagan holiday when the Witches and warlocks can come out to pray

For the album by Stormwitch, see Walpurgis Night (Stormwitch album).

Walpurgis Night (Walpurgisnacht) is a traditional religious holiday of pre-Christian origin, celebrated today by Christian as well as non-Christian[citation needed] communities, on April 30 or May 1 in large parts of Central and Northern Europe.[1]

The current festival is, in most countries that celebrate it, named after Saint Walpurga, born in Devon about 710. Due to the coincidence of her holy day falling on the same day as the pagan holiday on which it was based, her name became associated with the celebrations. Walpurga was honored in the same way that Vikings had celebrated spring and as they spread throughout Europe, the two dates became mixed together and created the Walpurgis Night celebration. Early Christianity had a policy of 'Christianising' pagan festivals so it is perhaps no accident that St. Walpurga's day

Historically Walpurgisnacht is derived from various pagan spring customs. Bonfires were built to keep away the dead and chaotic spirits that were then widely believed to walk among the living.[2] This is followed by the return of light and the sun as celebrated during May Day, although bonfires and witches are more closely associated with Easter (especially in Ostrobothnia, Finland) and bonfires alone with midsummer in the rest of Finland.

The achievement that CanNACHI’s designations are now being accepted as credentials to apply for a licence under the BC Home Inspector Licencing Regulation - is certainly a devastating setback for the CAHPI organisation and its National Certification Program.

The unexpected CanNACHI accomplishment in British Columbia - and the fact that it is much easier and less expensive to obtain a CanNACHI designation - will definitely attract new members to the fledgling organization at the expense of CAHPI / OAHI.
